For visiting scientists the grant is free of contributions to the social security system in Germany. As HITS is not responsible, the visiting scientist himself/herself has to obtain health insurance, preferably in advance.

Taxes

Whether taxes have to be paid in Gemany has to be checked individually.
It may be the case that taxes are due in your home country.
