Welcome Paula!

A warm welcome to Paula who has recently joined MBM group.
Paula obtained her Bachelor degree in Molecular Life Sciences from the University of Hamburg, but then switched to Systems Biology for her Masters in Heidelberg University.

In her master thesis, she will be investigating the mechanoproteome using multidimensional RNA sequencing data. Welcome!

Force for activation

Tumor invasion and metastasis are major problems in the therapy of cancer patients. A team of researchers at the Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies (HITS), the LMU Munich (both Germany) and the CNIO Madrid, Spain, has now elucidated the activation conditions for a key enzyme in this process – a step forward in the development of new therapeutic strategies.

Welcome Kevin!

A warm welcome to Kevin who is visiting the group with a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He previously held a postdoctoral fellowship in the Materials Science and Engineering Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland and in August he will be starting a tenure-track position in…

Welcome Odysseas!

A warm welcome to Odysseas who has recently joined MBM group as a Bachelor student.

Odysseas grew up in Athens, Greece. He is currently a Bachelor’s student of Biochemistry at the University of Heidelberg. He will investigate sequence determinants of the variable mechanical stability of different spectrin repeat domains under longitudinal shear forces. Welcome!

Welcome Isabel!

A warm welcome to Isabel who has recently joined MBM group as a PhD student. Isabel did her master studies in Molecular Biosciences at the University of Heidelberg. In her master thesis with Prof. Dr. Michael Knop she studied protein-protein interactions in the yeast HOG-pathway with fluorescence cross-correlation spectroscopy. In her PhD at the MBM…
