Welcome Isabel!

A warm welcome to Isabel who has recently joined MBM group as a PhD student. Isabel did her master studies in Molecular Biosciences at the University of Heidelberg. In her master thesis with Prof. Dr. Michael Knop she studied protein-protein interactions in the yeast HOG-pathway with fluorescence cross-correlation spectroscopy. In her PhD at the MBM…

Welcome Frieda!

A warm welcome to Frieda that has just joined MBM group as a master student.

Frieda is a Molecular Biotechnology master student at the University of Heidelberg.

She will study the formation of the cartwheel structure of Sas 6 and its role in centriole assembly using MD simulations.

Welcome Benedikt!

A warm welcome to Benedikt that has just joined MBM group as a master student. Benedikt is a master student of Physics at the University of Heidelberg. He has completed his Bachelor Studies in Heidelberg as well, focusing on Theoretical Biophysics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schwarz. During his Bachelor Studies, he has also…

Frauke has been elected member of the PRACE Scientific Steering Committee. The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) is an international non-profit association with its seat in Brussels. The PRACE Research Infrastructure provides a persistent world-class high performance computing service for scientists and researchers from academia and industry in Europe. The computer systems and…

Welcome Christopher!

A warm welcome to Christopher Lance that has just joined the MBM group as an intern.

Christopher is a master student of Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Heidelberg.

Together with Agnieszka, he will investigate SAS-6 cartwheel structures which are crucial for centriole formation using all-atom and coarse-grained MD simulations. Welcome!

Welcome Fabian!

A warm welcome to Fabian Kutzki that has just joined the MBM group as a PhD student. Fabian completed his Master Studies at the Heidelberg University (Department for Theoretical Physics) under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Mielke. He especially focused on statistical and computational physics, stochastic differential equations and Monte Carlo simulations. He is interested in the…

Welcome Max!

A warm welcome to Max Simon that has just joined the MBM group as a bachelor student.

Max is a bachelor student of physics at the University of Heidelberg.

He is investigating together with Csaba the properties of focal adhesian kinase using MD simulations with all-atom and coarse-grain force fields.

Welcome!

Flaws in nacre!

New paper on flaws in nacre is out! Flaws weaken a crystal along what macroscopic theories predict, even on the nano-scale, that is, when the flaw only comprises a few atoms. Nacre still is though, thanks to the proteins filling the flaws.
For more information see our paper here.
