Sie werden durch Beobachtung, Experimente und numerische Simulation generiert und sind nicht nur umfangreich, sondern weisen auch eine hochkomplexe Struktur auf. Sie bilden komplexe Abh\u00e4ngigkeiten in einer multiphysikalischen und Multiskalen-Umgebung in Zeit und Raum ab. Typische Anwendungsbereiche sind Astrophysik, Medizintechnik, Biologie, Erd- und Umweltwissenschaften. Die Erforschung dieser Datenmengen und das Entdecken von Mustern und signifikanten Strukturen ist eine entscheidende und in hohem Ma\u00dfe herausfordernde Aufgabe, der man nur in einem interdisziplin\u00e4ren Rahmen gerecht werden kann, d.h. durch Verbindung von mathematischer Modellierung, numerischer Simulation und Optimierung, Statistik, High Performance Computing und wissenschaftlicher Visualisierung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neben der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Komplexit\u00e4t der Daten spielt deren Qualit\u00e4t eine entscheidende Rolle, um zuverl\u00e4ssige Einblicke in die betrachteten physikalischen Prozesse zu garantieren. Der damit verbundene Anspruch an Qualit\u00e4t und Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit der Experimente und numerischen Simulationen erfordert die Entwicklung von Modellen und Methoden aus Mathematik und Informatik, die Unsicherheiten f\u00fcr gro\u00dfe Datenmengen quantifizieren k\u00f6nnen. Solche Unsicherheiten k\u00f6nnen z.B. durch Messfehler, mangelnde Kenntnisse \u00fcber Modellparameter oder Predictive Analytics von gro\u00dfen Datenmengen entstehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die DMQ-Gruppe unter Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline nahm ihre Arbeit im Mai 2013 auf. Unsere Forschungsgruppe nutzt stochastische mathematische Modelle, High Performance Computing und Hardware-Aware Computing, um die Auswirkungen von Unsicherheiten bei gro\u00dfen Datens\u00e4tzen und\/oder zugeh\u00f6rigen mathematischen Modellen im Hinblick auf zuverl\u00e4ssige Einblicke in Data Mining zu quantifizieren.
