Sie nutzten und entwickelten verschiedene computergest\u00fctzte und theoretische Methoden auf verschiedenen L\u00e4ngen- und Zeitskalen, unter anderem molekulardynamische Simulationen, Monte-Carlo-Techniken, Quantenchemie, maschinelles Lernen und bioinformatische Ans\u00e4tze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zus\u00e4tzlich f\u00fchrte die Gruppe biophysikalische und biochemische Experimente durch, um ihre rechnerischen Vorhersagen zu validieren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Hauptinteresse der MBM-Gruppe bestand darin zu entschl\u00fcsseln, wie die Natur Proteine entworfen hat, um spezifisch auf mechanische Kr\u00e4fte in der zellul\u00e4ren Umgebung oder au\u00dferhalb der Zelle zu reagieren. Ziel war es, neue molekulare Kraftsensoren lebender Organismen zu entdecken und deren Innenleben zu entschl\u00fcsseln. Die Forschung konzentrierte sich dabei auf Proteinmaterialien, Mechanoenzyme und ungeordnete Proteine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2024 wurde die MBM-Gruppenleiterin Frauke Gr\u00e4ter zur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/2024\/06\/25\/frauke-grater-mpi-p\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Direktorin am Max-Planck-Institut f\u00fcr Polymerforschung (MPIP) ernannt <\/a>und verlie\u00df das HITS am Ende desselben Jahres nach 15 Jahren erfolgreicher Forschungst\u00e4tigkeit. Ihr Arbeitskreis am MPIP tr\u00e4gt den denselben Namen: &#8222;Molecular Biomechanics.&#8220; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de\/de\/graeter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de\/de\/graeter<\/a> Gr\u00e4ter und ihre Gruppe arbeiten nach wie vor eng mit HITS-Forschenden zusammen, insbesondere mit der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/groups\/mli-de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MLI-Gruppe<\/a> (Leitung: Jan St\u00fchmer).
