In a recent publication<\/a> in Physical Review D, HITS researchers Friedrich R\u00f6pke and Sebastian Ohlmann were part of a team around Warren Wright from North Carolina State University to compare the neutrino output of different scenarios of Type Ia supernovae. These are explosions of white dwarf stars; however, the detailed progenitor systems and explosion mechanisms remain elusive. In this paper, neutrino signals for future neutrino detectors are computed and corresponding observations will help to discriminate between the different scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work was reported as a research highlight in Nature<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
