{"id":18563,"date":"2017-11-01T09:00:48","date_gmt":"2017-11-01T08:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.h-its.org\/?p=18563"},"modified":"2019-09-24T11:40:20","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T09:40:20","slug":"julich-supercomputing-centre-grants-28-million-cpu-hours-for-simulations-of-thermonuclear-supernovae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/2017\/11\/01\/julich-supercomputing-centre-grants-28-million-cpu-hours-for-simulations-of-thermonuclear-supernovae\/","title":{"rendered":"J\u00fclich Supercomputing Centre grants 28 million CPU hours for simulations of thermonuclear supernovae"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Together with colleagues from the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, PSO scientists were awarded 28 million CPU hours on&nbsp;the JUQUEEN supercomputer at J\u00fclich Supercomputing Centre for a collaboration project on the &#8222;Progenitor systems of thermonuclear supernovae&#8220;.&nbsp;These resources, allocated for November 2017 to October 2018, will be used to run a suite of models including simulations of the explosion phase with the hydrodynamics code LEAFS, nucleosynthesis calculations with the nuclear network code YANN and radiative transfer simulations with the Monte Carlo code ARTIS.
