Die H\u00fclle des Planeten, die sich unter der d\u00fcnnen sichtbaren Schicht befindet, ist jedoch nicht sofort erkennbar. Dennoch kann \u201eJuno\u201c uns \u00fcber Jupiter ins Bild setzen, indem sie die Anziehungskraft an verschiedenen Stellen des Jupiters misst. Dies gibt den Astronom*innen Aufschluss \u00fcber die Zusammensetzung des Inneren, das sich von der Oberfl\u00e4che unterscheidet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein internationales Team von Astronom*innen unter der Leitung von Yamila Miguel (SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research \/Leiden Observatory) fand nun heraus, dass die Gash\u00fclle nicht so homogen und gut durchmischt ist, wie bisher angenommen. Stattdessen gibt es eine st\u00e4rkere Kontraktion der &#8222;Metalle&#8220; &#8211; Elemente, die schwerer sind als Wasserstoff und Helium &#8211; in Richtung des Planetenkerns. Um zu ihren Schlussfolgerungen zu gelangen, erstellten die Forschenden eine Reihe von theoretischen Modellen, die die von Juno gemessenen Beobachtungsbedingungen beachten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Team untersuchte die Verteilung der Metalle auf Hinweise zur Entstehung von Jupiter. Der HITS-Forscher Micha\u00ebl Bazot (TOS-Gruppe), Zweitautor der Studie, entwickelte den statistischen Algorithmus, mit dem die mehreren Millionen Jupitermodelle erstellt wurden, die f\u00fcr eine aussagekr\u00e4ftige Untersuchung des Planeteninneren erforderlich waren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Wissenschaftler*innen fanden heraus, dass die Metalle nicht gleichm\u00e4\u00dfig \u00fcber die H\u00fclle verteilt sind: Der Anteil der Metalle im inneren Teil des Jupiters ist h\u00f6her als in den \u00e4u\u00dferen Teilen. Die Gesamtmenge an Metallen betr\u00e4gt zwischen 11 und 30 Erdmassen. Das Resultat, dass der innere Teil der H\u00fclle mehr schwere Elemente enth\u00e4lt als der \u00e4u\u00dfere Teil, bedeutet, dass die Menge nach au\u00dfen hin mit einem Gradienten abnimmt, anstatt dass die H\u00fclle homogen durchmischt ist. \u201eFr\u00fcher dachten wir, dass der Jupiter durch Konvektion wie kochendes Wasser vollst\u00e4ndig durchmischt ist&#8220;, sagt Miguel. \u201eAber unsere Ergebnisse zeigen das Gegenteil.&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Publikation:<br><\/strong>Y.
