W\u00e4hrend der Endpunkt dieses R\u00fcckgangs bereits gut erforscht ist, wusste man bisher wenig \u00fcber seinen Beginn.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/people\/prof-dr-saskia-hekker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Saskia Hekker<\/strong><\/a><strong>, Leiterin der Forschungsgruppe<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/forschung\/tos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\u201eTheory and Observations of Stars\u201c<\/strong><\/a> <strong>am<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.h-its.org\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Heidelberger Institut f\u00fcr Theoretische Studien<\/strong><\/a> <strong>(HITS), kommt nun in einem Artikel in den \u201eAstrophysical Journal Letters\u201c zu dem Schluss, dass Entropie der entscheidende Ausl\u00f6ser f\u00fcr diesen \u201eBump\u201c ist.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bei massearmen Sternen auf dem roten Riesenast tritt ein Ph\u00e4nomen auf, das als \u201eRed-Giant Branch Bump\u201c bekannt ist und sowohl in der Realit\u00e4t als auch im Sternmodell beobachtet werden kann. Dabei kommt es vor\u00fcbergehend zu einem R\u00fcckgang in der Leuchtkraft des Sterns, obwohl eigentlich ein Anstieg der Luminosit\u00e4t zu erwarten w\u00e4re. Diesem r\u00e4tselhaften Ph\u00e4nomen widmet sich Saskia Hekker in ihrer neuesten Forschungsarbeit. Sie zeigt darin auf, dass die Antwort Entropie sein k\u00f6nnte, das Ma\u00df f\u00fcr die Unordnung oder die Verteilung von Energie und Materie im Universum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Luminosity Bump wird in der Regel durch eine Diskontinuit\u00e4t in der chemischen Zusammensetzung eines Sterns ausgel\u00f6st, die am unteren Rand der konvektiven Sternh\u00fclle, also der \u00e4u\u00dferen Schicht eines Sterns, entsteht. Im Laufe der Evolution dringt sie in tiefere Schichten mit unterschiedlichen Temperaturen und Druckverh\u00e4ltnissen vor und ver\u00e4ndert dabei die Entropie.
