We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Molecular and Cellular Modelling (MCM) group at HITS as a PhD student. The PhD student will enroll at Heidelberg University.
The Molecular and Cellular Modeling group is an interdisciplinary research group that works on the development and application of computer-aided methods to model and simulate biomolecular interactions. The focus is on proteins and the computational approaches are mostly based on the three-dimensional structures of macromolecules. Techniques cover a wide spectrum from interactive, web-based visualization tools to molecular and Brownian dynamics simulations (see http://www.h-its.org/mcm).
The PhD student will carry out research on the development and application of molecular modelling and simulation methods for studying drug-protein, drug-polymer or protein-protein interactions. A generous research budget is available, as well as a competitive salary and benefits package. More information regarding working at HITS and in the MCM group is available at https://www.h-its.org/career/working-at-hits/ and https://www.h-its.org/research/mcm/jobs/.
Applicants should possess a master’s degree in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biotechnology, or a related discipline. Candidates should preferably have a strong theoretical background, experience in biomolecular modelling and simulation, possess excellent programming skills, and have a genuine interest in interdisciplinary research. Strong communication skills are required.
