HITS is looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher in the Physics of Stellar Object (PSO) Group
The PSO group targets at performing large-scale simulations of processes in stellar astrophysics including supernova explosions, stellar structure and evolution, and binary star interaction.
The successful candidate will carry out research in theoretical stellar astrophysics within the broader scope of the PSO group.
Moreover, support and co-supervision of doctoral students is welcome.
What qualifies you for this job
Successful candidates should have a PhD degree (or be close to completion) in Physics or Astronomy. Candidates with strong backgrounds in developing massively parallel simulation codes, in numerical fluid dynamics, and in radiative transfer modeling are particularly encouraged to apply.

You will work in the research group led by Prof. Friedrich Roepke at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, where you will find a first-class research environment and outstanding computational infrastructure and a generous research budget.
