Postdoc positions in computational materials science
We seek to fill
two Postdoctoral positions (m/f) to work in the field computational materials science.
We are looking for excellent, highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our research team.
Within the newly established cluster of excellence “3D Matter made to order” funded by the DFG, the project aims at predicting the molecular mechanisms of failure in novel nanoscale polymeric metamaterials. In an interdisciplinary team, you will develop scale-bridging simulations which combine Molecular Dynamics with continuum mechanics. Visit www.3dmattermadetoorder.kit.edu for details.
Within our longstanding research collaboration with Toyota Europe and embedded into a European research consortium, the project aims at predicting and optimizing ionomeric membrane properties. A combination of atomistic and coarse-grained simulations with machine learning is foreseen to bridge scales.
You should possess a PhD degree in computational physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering or a related field. You should preferably have a firm background in molecular simulations, programming and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
The candidate will be based at HITS and employed, depending on the project, at Heidelberg University or HITS. Salary is in accordance with the German state public service salary scale (E13 TV-L West) and the accordant social benefits. The intended starting date is April 2019 and negotiable. The Molecular Biomechanics Group focuses on the link between mechanical forces and biology and examines the mechanical properties of biomolecules and materials across scales, by developing and using novel algorithms based on Molecular Dynamics simulations, coarse-grained models, and Finite Element methods.
HITS gGmbH is a private non-profit research institute carrying out multidisciplinary research in the computational sciences.
