Mini-Symposium Supernova Observations and Modelling

9. July 2018

During the week of July 9-13, the PSO group hosts a number of international guests. Dr Ashley Ruiter and Dr Ivo Seitenzahl from the University of New South Wales Canberra (Australia) are visiting for the full week to continue a long-standing collaboration on thermonuclear supernovae. Furthermore, Magda Siwek and Marc Williamson (New York University, US) will visit on July 11. Both are students of Prof. Maryam Modjaz, who is currently a long-term visiting scientist at PSO and the MPIA. On this occasion, we will organise a mini-symposium on Supernova Observations and Modelling at HITS on July 11.

About HITS

HITS, the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, was established in 2010 by physicist and SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira (1940-2015) and the Klaus Tschira Foundation as a private, non-profit research institute. HITS conducts basic research in the natural, mathematical, and computer sciences. Major research directions include complex simulations across scales, making sense of data, and enabling science via computational research. Application areas range from molecular biology to astrophysics. An essential characteristic of the Institute is interdisciplinarity, implemented in numerous cross-group and cross-disciplinary projects. The base funding of HITS is provided by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
