For a perfect start into 2019, the PSO group had Dr. Rob Izzard visiting from the University of Surrey, UK. Dr. Izzard spent the whole week from 7th to 11th January at HITS to discuss current topics in binary star evolution in particular with respect to common-envelope evolution that is studied in depth by the PSO group. A seminar delivered by Dr. Izzard about the formation of circumbinary disks after a common-envelope phase delivered great insights and lead to fruitful discussions and new impulses for future collaboration. Could there even be exoplanets forming in such disks?
