Heribert Knorr studied political science, sociology, history and English at the universities of Tübingen and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After the state examiniation he wrote his dissertation on a constitutional law topic, supervised by Professor Theodor Eschenburg. Subsequently, he worked in positions in the administration of the University of Tübingen, and then in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg, Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, as well as its Ministry of State. From 1991 until 2013, he served in the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts as Director General responsible for research, technology transfer, digitalization and international cooperation. In this position, he collaborated with Klaus Tschira and Andreas Reuter in several projects and supported the founding and the developing process of HITS. Since 2014, Heribert Knorr has been a member of the HITS Advisory Board.
