Flooding the zone with AI? The role of humans in science communication

While AI-generated content is getting better and better, communication experts wonder what jobs will be left for them in the end. They can’t be sure that there’s a limit to what AI can do. But there is one task that cannot be automated: someone needs to take on responsibility for what is published. That may not seem like much, but it’s a start – and it means that this someone has to decide what’s interesting, relevant, and important for a given audience. If we allow AI to publish by itself and then ask it to filter the publications for us, we only have ourselves to blame.
