Peter Saueressig

Peter Saueressig has been working in science communication for more than 25 years. He joined the Klaus Tschira Foundation in 2000, responsible for their research institutes EML European Media Laboratory and EML Research. When HITS was established as successor of EML Research in 2010, he switched from the foundation to the newly founded institute. Since then, he has shaped HITS communication, conceiving the HITS newsletter “The Charts”, established the Journalist in Residence program, coordinated the HITS mission and corporate design process and organized the HITS Alumni activities.
On 1 November 2026, he will retire and become a HITS alumni himself.

Apart from his professional activities, he is a musician, singer, songwriter and producer, with his own band “BALSAMICO”, as a member of the a cappella ensemble “Heidelberger HardChor”
and as lead singer of a Deep Purple tribute band with the tongue-in-cheek name “Cheap Purple”.
