Welcome
Welcome to the website of the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). HITS has become operational in January 2010. It starts with the scientific agenda developed by EML Research, and it will expand it to more topical areas. HITS will eventually comprise ca. 10 research groups from various fields of the natural sciences, plus mathematics and computer science. We are convinced that such a multi-disciplinary setting is an ideal "incubator" for novel approaches to hard scientific problems. On these pages, you will find information about us, about our mission and financing. Information about events (seminars, conferences, and workshops) in HITS and job offers is provided in the news section. In the press section we provide information for the media. In contact you will find information on where we are located, and how to reach contact persons. Download the Annual Report 2009 of our predecessor EML Research. Latest News: October 11-13, 2010: Rebecca Wade and PaoloMereghetti (MCM group) will organize the BDBDBD 2 (Biological Diffusion and Brownian Dynamics Brainstorm) workshop in Studio Villa Bosch, Heidelberg June 30 - July 2, 2010: HITS and Heidelberg University jointly organized the 22nd International Conference on Scientific and Statistic Database Management (SSDBM) in Studio Villa Bosch, Heidelberg May 31, 2010: Paper from NLP group awarded by IJCAI-JAIR May 25, 2010: The Universe in a computer - astrophysicist Volker Springel leads new research group at HITS |
